Municipality owes SPCA more than R750 000 in outstanding pound fees

The last payment that the SPCA received from the municipality was in December 2015.

Highveld Ridge SPCA is no longer the official pound holder for Govan Mbeki Municipality.

Ms Jenneth Geel, senior inspector, said the municipality owes the SPCA more than R750 000 in pound fees.

The last payment that the SPCA received from the municipality was in December 2015. The municipality contacted the SPCA in May and said they see they have outstanding invoices. The SPCA has been surviving on an investment that they had, but the money is nearly finished.

“Some of my staff members might lose their jobs if we do not get financing from somewhere. “I think most of them will still continue to work voluntarily even if they do not get paid though.”
