Kinross and Secunda Police have seen a steep rise in burglaries over the past two weeks with a spike in cases reported at the weekend.
According to Sgt Jaco Nagel from Kinross Police Station, 13 cases of burglaries were reported to the Kinross Police Station thus far this month.
“This is a lot of cases for our small community,” he said.
Sgt Nagel advised Kinross residents to inform their neighbours when they plan to go out of town, as most burglaries have occurred when the occupants were not at home.
He also appealed to the community to be extra precautiouse when they lock gates and doors, close windows and lock car doors before going to bed.
“Many of the break-ins happen between 10pm and 6am.”
