Govan Mbeki Municipality is “up for sale and its employees are insulted”.
This is according to an anonymous letter that was shoved under the door of the municipal offices on Friday, 9 February.
The unknown author of the letter is accusing Mr Thisha Mhlanga, acting municipal manager, of mal-administration, nepotism and dictatorship.
The letter states that the secondment of Mr Mhlanga is questionable and undermines local, talented and experienced people.
Mr Mhlanga is lambasted in the letter for allegedly employing an acting executive secretary from Newcastle instead of employing someone from the area.
“The appointment of contractors outside the Govan Mbeki Municipality boundaries is resulting in a cash outflow. “This arrogant and ill informed decision is fueled in the main by the notion that local people are not mentally stable and that local contractors do not know the value of money.
“Thisha Mhlanga has taken over the powers delegated to directors by sitting on the panel of interviews, for example of the supply chain manager. This conduct demonstrates his selfish financial interest.
“He is putting his hand in the purse of the institution to line his own pocket.
