The Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr BB Sithole, of Govan Mbeki Municipality was suspended pending an investigation into alleged fraudulent payments.
This came after a closed meeting at the municipality today.
Mr Sithole was appointed by the municipality as the new CFO in August 2017.
