Police, security personnel and local farmers worked together to apprehend suspected copper cable thieves
The police found copper cable worth R55 000 in the bakkie.
SECUNDA – Charl Cilliers Police, Eskom’s security personnel and local farmers worked together on Tuesday morning, 13 March to apprehend suspected copper cable thieves.

Farm patrollers stopped Reservist Const Emanuel Zondo as he was patrolling the area in the early morning hours. The farmers told him of a suspicious bakkie on one of the farms.
They spotted the bakkie and stopped it in Charl Cilliers and the occupants were arrested.
The police found 687kg of copper cable inside the bakkie worth about R55 000.
The four men arrested are between the ages of 24 and 35 years. Three are Mozambican nationals.
Capt Abel Mahlangu, Charl Cilliers Police Station’s commander, applauded the bravery of Const Zondo and said he appreciated the co-operation between the farm patrollers, Messrs Gert Kuhn, Anthony Western and Lukkie Vermaas.
The suspects appeared in Secunda Court on 16 March.
