A man from Standerton was on his way to Secunda on 19 May and gave two hitchhikers a lift, who overpowered him and took control of his vehicle.
According to him, they asked for a lift in Charl Cilliers when he stopped.

He said one of the attackers attempted to strangle him with a rope between Charl Cilliers and eMbalenhle until the vehicle stopped.
According to him, they took off his trousers and shoes, tied his hands, covered his eyes and shoved him in the car’s boot.
