UPDATE: Electricity outage affects residents in Standerton

According to Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, Spokesman of the Municipality, they are looking for the problem.

Mr Marks Mabunda of the technical department of the muncipality attributed the power outage to overloading.

Mr Mabunda said electricians are still looking in some areas for the faults.

The cause of this morning’s power outage could not yet be established.

A resident, Mr Jack Johnson, claimed on a shared article that his sources attributed the interruption to a faulty main breaker at the main sub which the municipality is failing to replace, however this was unconfirmed.

The Standerton Advertiser contacted Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, communications manager of the municipality, but she could also not confirm or deny the allegation.

She said the questions forwarded to her by the Standerton Advertiser, were sent to the relevant department in order for them to respond.

As soon as a response is received, the Standerton Advertiser will update its readers.


Some areas in Standerton are without electricity from about 8.15am.

According to Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, communications manager of the municipality, they are looking into the issue.

She could not give a time frame as to how long it will take to repair.

According to Mr Marks Mabunda from the technical services, electricians have been dispatched.
