Three major cases postponed in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court
Mr Jaco Jordaan was arrested in connection with Investment fraud, Adv Felani Manana and Past Shadrach Manana for an investment scam and Messrs Tshepo Molefe, Shadrack Tshabalala, Bheki Vilakazi and Michael Sikhokane, the accused in the murder of Mr Hans Meyer from Charl Cilliers.
SECUNDA – The accused in three major cases appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 25 May.
The courtroom was packed as the gallery waited patiently for Mr Jaco Jordaan to appear in the docks. He was arrested in March in connection with investment fraud of more than R100 million. There are more than 50 complainants of which most live in Secunda and Kriel.
Magistrate Faith Kekana initially denied bail to Mr Jordaan, a businessman from Heidelberg on 2 March. He turned to the High Court and was granted bail of R50 000 on 26 April without even the investigating officer’s knowledge.
Mr Jordaan’s case was postponed to 28 August for further investigation. Mr Louwrens Grundlingh, legal representative on behalf of the complainants told the Ridge Times that a civil suit has been opened and that Mr Jordaan’s assets are being attached. His clients made mention of a yacht worth R1.3 million and a Porsche being among Mr Jordaan’s assets.
The second case was that of Adv Felani Manana and Past Shadrach Manana who are the accused in another investment scam worth about R5 million. This case was postponed to 26 July.

Messrs Tshepo Molefe, Shadrack Tshabalala, Bheki Vilakazi and Michael Sikhokane, the accused in the murder of Mr Hans Meyer from Charl Cilliers, also briefly appeared in court on Friday. The case was postponed to 4 July.

The first three are still remanded in custody, while Mr Sikhokane’s bail has been upheld until the next appearance.
