SECUNDA – Quick action by a concerned bystander and the fast response from ER24 Ambulance Services saved the live of a Domino’s worker in Secunda tonight, 1 June.

Mr Kobus Naude came across an elderly man who was trying to help the Domino’s worker in the parking lot in front of the shop at Driefontein Shopping Centre just after 7pm.

“The older man did not have a phone to call for help. The younger man was lying on his stomach with fluids trickling from his mouth. He did not seem to have any vital signs and I thought he was dead,” said Mr Naude.

He called Mr Jaco Horn from GTR and Secunda 911 Assist 24/7 who dispatched ER24 to the scene. The ambulance was there within minutes and emergency personnel resuscitated the Domino’s worker.

When he was again able to breathe, the paramedic rushed the man to Mediclinic Highveld. No other information is available at the moment.

Mr André Momberg of ER24 said the worker is only 26 years old.

“He was dead! His heart had stopped. We gave him adrenaline, intubated him and the used the defibrillator before he came back to life. We are not yet sure what caused him to just collapse.”

The young man is currently at the Mediclinic Highveld. Mr Momberg said he has been sedated.
