Sector 4 CPF members fill up potholes in Secunda

This was a community initiative to make the road safer for pedestrians and motorists.

SECUNDA – Members of the CPF’s Sector 4 took to the streets in their sector on Sunday, 3 June to cover potholes that pose a danger to motorists.

Mr DJ (Smittie) Smit, chairman of Sector 4, and his team spent the day filling the potholes with concrete and directing traffic while the concrete was drying.

This was a community initiative to make the road safer for pedestrians and motorists.

The grass is long in certain areas and forces pedestrians to walk in the road.

At the same time motorists have to avoid the potholes and pedestrians.

“We are also concerned about the streetlights that are not working. One can hardly see the potholes during the day, but they are invisible at night.

“We live in a fairly new area of Secunda, but it is already deteriorating.

“We ask our fellow residents to help us with ways to address the streetlight problems. One idea is to replace them with solar operated lights,” said Mr Smit.
