Mr Mthembu will hosting an event on 28 July at Raisible Garden from 5pm and admission is R100.

eMBALENHLE – Mr Khwezilokusa Mthembu (32) aims at showing the world that you can achieve anything you want to regardless of your circumstances, setbacks and challenges.

He is a local motivational speaker and an entrepreneur.

Mr Mthembu’s life drastically changed in December 2009 when he was involved in a car accident which left him confined to a wheelchair due to bad back injuries.

He was in hospital for five months.

He was working for Sasol Synfuels as a process controller at the time.

The accident changed many things in his life and he had to do office work.

“I felt I was being under-utilised due to what I know I am capable of. I did admin work from June 2010 until May 2015 when I resigned to pursue my dream of becoming an entrepreneur and a motivational speaker.

“We have managed to hire two young guys as graphic designers and five women for our sales team as freelancers.

“I also have a Facebook page, Khwezi Mthembu, where I share motivational videos and quotes to uplift everyone around me and the world over.”

Mr Mthembu was born in KwaZulu-Natal and was raised in eMbalenhle.

He was in Lifalethu Primary School in 1992 and completed his matric at Kiriyatswana Secondary School in 2003.

He then studied mechanical engineering at Vaal University of Technology, but had to drop out the following year due to a lack of funds.

Mr Mthembu enjoys reading books, listening to motivational talks and watch soccer in his spare time.

His goal in life is to continuously educate young people about disability and people living with disabilities.

“I want to change the inaccurate perceptions others have about people living with disabilities.”

Mr Mthembu recalled how life was after he was discharged from hospital.

He said his strength was to talk to himself.

“Yes, you are in pain. Yes you are confused. Yes, nobody understands what you have lost. Yes, you don’t know what the future holds. Yes, they have turned their backs on you. But remember, there is nothing special about your struggle, everyone is going through a struggle of some sort.

“Focus on being a better person than you were before, as the world will judge how you respond to these challenges that you face,” he told himself.

He will host an event on 28 July at Raisible Garden from 5pm and admission cost R100.
