eMBALENHLE – The Govan Municipal Fire and Rescue Department have extinguished the fire after the electrical substation exploded and caught fire about an hour ago in Extension 5.
Mr Benzi Soko, municipal spokesman, said Mr Thanda Zulu, director for technical technical services, and his team are on the scene accessing the situation.
He said according to their investigation, the explosion was caused by overloading.
He said at this stage they are unsure of the extent of the damage and how long it will take to fix it.
