DA Councillor urge residents to attend the Integrated Development Plan meeting tonight in Bethal

“This meeting could not proceed in the last two years as only three people from the community showed up.”

DA Councillor, Ms Marietjie Fourie, urged residents to attend the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) meeting at 6pm tonight in the Bethal town hall.

Ms Fourie said sewer spillages have been a problem in Bethal over the past four months and the matter have been escalated to the health inspector, the regional manager, the municipal manager and the DA provincial head office.

“It is time the community stands up and give the message to Govan Mbeki Municipality, that Bethal will not be ignored,” said Ms Fourie.

“This is the meeting where burning issues such as the insufficient reservoirs in Bethalrand, street lights, electrical infrastructure, dangerous crossings on the N17, water supply interruptions and Bethal Dam renovations can be addressed.

“At this meeting, I can represent the Bethal community as I will be part of the meeting panel as a ward councillor.

“This meeting could not proceed in the last two years as only three people from the community showed up.”
