Ms Khanyile appeals to Parliament for Ext 8 project

“It was sheer sadness to see people having to go and relieve themselves in the bushes because toilets do not work,” Ms Khanyile said.

The DA’s Ms Angel Khanyile, Member of Parliament and the Social Development Committee appealed to Parliament on 13 November to intervene on the Ext 8 project.

Ms Khanyile is the Political Head: Lekwa and Govan Mbeki Municipalities, Mpumalanga.

She expressed the view that shoddy workmanship and poor quality housing have been the prevalent characteristics since the project began in 2015.

According to her, it was illuminated when DA provincial representatives conducted an oversight in June.

She added that the infrastructure is poor with sewage pipes not operational and poor drainage connections as well as lack of electricity and water.

“It was sheer sadness to see people having to go and relieve themselves in the bushes because toilets do not work,” Ms Khanyile said.
