Lekwa unveils nine new vehicles

The Traffic Department will not be buying vehicles, instead they have opted for a car scheme.

Lekwa Municipality unveiled nine new bakkies on 3 December at 10am.

According to the Executive Mayor, Mr Linda Dhlamini, the municipality set aside R16-million for the purchasing of the new fleet earlier this year.

The Ford-bakkies were delivered last Thursday, with three more expected soon.

The bakkies will be targeted for the Departments of Electricity and Water and Sanitation.

“We will sit down at a council meeting in January next year and assess how much money was used and how much more is still needed,” he added.
