UPDATE: Eskom does not anticipate loadshedding over the festive season period

A statement released by Eskom on Thursday, 13 December gives consumers hope for a bright festive season.

There has been no loadshedding for the last four consecutive days, though the looming possibility of electricity cuts due to other factors may occur.

These factors include heavy rains that could impact the coal handling and feeding to the boilers as well as local power outages.

Thankfully, with many businesses closing over the festive season, the load on Eskom will decrease substantially.

The system, however still remains vulnerable.

Consumers are asked to use electricity sparingly.

Should consumers experience power outages, Eskom advises to contact their customer centre on 08600 37566 or local municipalities to ensure early restoration.

Eskom confirmed that they will communicate if there is a change.
