Water dries up in Bethal

According to Ms Fourie, the reservoir was checked last night and levels were picking up. However this morning the reservoir was empty again.

Bethal residents have been without water for four days now.

Rand Water is apparently throttling the water and the system then takes a long time to fill up again.

Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA Councillor, said the Head of the Department of Water and Sanitation assured her that Rand Water is currently pumping the system full at 100 per cent until the crisis is over.

“Unfortunately there is no way for me to verify if this is true,” said Ms Fourie.

“Throttling due to non-payment will probably begin again.”

According to Ms Fourie, the reservoir was checked last night and levels were picking up.

However this morning the reservoir was empty again.

Municipal workers were investigating a possible leak earlier today.
