eMbalenhle residents fed up with all the interruptions

Locals complain about service delivery in eMbalenhle

eMBALENHLE – Locals are of the opinion that service delivery is deteriorating daily in eMbalenhle and they have lost hope that things will improve.

During the past weeks, most parts of eMbalenhle were without electricity for more than 24 hours, while some parts were without electricity for two days.

The affected areas were Extensions 7, 8, 11, 26, 18, 19 and 14. The municipality did not give reasons for the interruptions.

Mr Thulani Mabena of Extension 14 said power and water interruption have become a way of life in their area. He said as tough as it is, they were forced to adapt to that.

“This municipality has failed us and we lost faith in them. I do not believe they will ever come up with a permanent solution.

“Sometimes we are without electricity for two to three days without any notice. How do they expect us to pay for services?

“The call centre is not helpful and the officials often tell us they do not have the equipment to do their job.”

Speaking about the interruptions, residents said that the water interruptions are the worst.

Ms Linah Mtsweni said they were promised that as soon the water reservoir is fixed, they will not experience these problems.

“In December we were told that the reservoir is working, but we still experienced water problems.

“We do not know what to do anymore as our councillors are not assisting us at all.”
