No agreement between Rand Water and Govan Mbeki Municipality was reached regarding the municipality’s outstanding debt.

This came after a Finance Portfolio Committee meeting earlier today.

Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA Councillor said Rand Water increased the water capacity after the municipality made a payment of an unknown amount to Rand Water on Friday, 18 January and committed to reach a signed agreement by Friday, 25 January.

“If no agreement is reached, the water supply to Govan Mbeki municipal area will be reduced to 60 per cent again,” said Ms Fourie.

“Please keep in mind that I am not part of the negotiations, the only way I can influence it is by making recommendations.”
