Curamus Victim Support help the Secunda police to support victims of crime

Curamus Victim Support can now also be found on Facebook where valuable hints and information is shared, such how to deal with bullies, when is it sexual harassment and the warning signs of an abusive relationship.

SECUNDA – Curamus Victim Support is a group that does exactly what the word Curamus means in Latin – they care.

This group of volunteers are there to help with more than the physical need of the community.

They reach out to those who also need emotional support.

This group falls under the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and also assist the police to support victims of crime.

These include victims of sexual abuse, armed robberies, and hijackings, as well as the family of murder victims.

These are but a handful of women and men who are willing and able to help anyone who is going through a traumatic event.

A person who experiences trauma can be anyone, a victim or a family member of the victim, who is exposed to a traumatic event, such as domestic disputes, sexual harassment, suicides and attempted suicides, death in the family, and even when a child is being bullied at school.

Ms Chantelle Prinsloo, the head of Curamus, said although they are not counsellors, they are an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.

Curamus Victim Support can now also be found on Facebook where valuable hints and information is shared, such as how to deal with bullies, when is it sexual harassment and the warning signs of an abusive relationship.

If you need help, Curamus Victim Support is only a phone call away. Contact them at 079 114 9592.
