Standerton Home Affairs declines young girl’s ID application

She was born in South Africa along with her three older sisters and has all the documentation to prove it.

Ms Micheala Cecilia Dos Santos Dias applied for an ID on 13 February and went to check on 6 March, but her application was declined.

According to Ms Dias, an official of the department said the reason was that she is a foreigner.

She was born in South Africa along with her three older sisters and has all the documentation to prove it.

Her parents,  originally from Angola (father) and Mozambique (mother), have been living in the country since the 1980s and have since gained permanent citizenship.

The Standerton Advertiser will contact the department and the complete article will be published in the next Advertiser.
