Ms Ngxonono thanked Overlooked Colliery for revamping Extension 15 water reservoir

The Extension 15 residents claimed that they found little red worms floating in their tap water.

eMBALENHLE – Residents can now have fresh and clean water following the renovation of the water reservoir in Extension 15.

The reservoir was revamped by Overlooked Colliery as part of their social labour plan and was handed over by Ms Thandi Ngxonono, Govan Mbeki Municipality’s Executive Mayor.

The reservoir was disconnected from supplying water to the area after residents complained that the water was contaminated with algae and worms.

The Extension 15 residents claimed that they found little red worms floating in their tap water.

Ms Ngxonono thanked Overlooked Colliery for the initiative and urged locals to look after the reservoir.

She said the municipality is working around the clock to improve service delivery in the area.

“We are happy that there is improvement in regard to service delivery, and we will continue to ensure that our people receive adequate services.

“We are glad that the water challenges will be resolved and our people will have access to clean water.

“We urge our people to be an eye for the municipality and to report any suspicious movements in the reservoir.

“We will continue maintaining the reservoir so that it can be kept in good standard.

“We want to commend the residents for their patience while we were fixing this reservoir.”

She urged residents to use water sparingly and to report any misuse of water.

Mr Mathew Sinosi, CEO for Overlooked Colliery, said his company is committed to the community.

He added that the company is happy with the healthy and good working relationship they have established with GMM.

“These are the results of a good relationship with the municipality.

“We will continue investing in this municipality.”
