Stanwest-residents up in arms about containers

The community cited the putting up of containers an illegal and unlawful occupation of Erf 1016/45 and demanded its removal.

Residents of Stanwest were recently up in arms about two containers put up on an empty erf near the Shell Garage.

“Fun World said they are going to open a car wash and shebeen,” a resident said.

The woman spoke to the Standerton Advertiser on condition of anonymity.

According to her, Ms Mapaseka Molaba, councillor in the ward, has taken up their fight and about 40 to 50 members of the community then protested in Marais Street as well.

They drafted a memorandum to the acting executive manager for planning and development at the Lekwa Municipality, stating their concerns.

The community cited the putting up of containers an illegal and unlawful occupation of Erf 1016/45 and demanded its removal.

Failure to do so, will result in removing it at the occupiers’ own cost the memorandum concluded.

The Standerton Advertiser spoke to the woman concerned on Thursday, 13 June who said there are no new developments.
