Lekwa Municipality bought a new Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) to be used for cleaning the landfill site as well as illegal dumping sites.
The caucus leader of the DA, Mr Rosier de Ville, voiced his concern with illegal dumping sites during a visit to the Standerton Advertiser on Friday, 29 November.
“The illegal dumping of refuse has unfortunately become a trend,” Mr De Ville said.
According to him, it will become a serious health risk to residents and eventually affect children.
“It is time the municipality begins implementing bylaws.”
He also asked whether the bylaws are not outdated and whether Lekwa has the capacity to enforce bylaws.
