Residents to prepare for power outages in Secunda and Trichardt

According to Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, a DA councillor serving on the Govan Mbeki Municipality's technical portfolio reminds residents that the power might be off for prolonged periods on 13 and 14 February, and again on 18 and 19 of February.

SECUNDA – Residents of Secunda and Trichardt should make precautionary provisions for long possible power outages this week.

The main substation next to the Albany Bakery is being upgraded and repaired.

According to Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, a DA councillor serving on the Govan Mbeki Municipality’s technical portfolio reminds residents that the power might be off for prolonged periods on 13 and 14 February, and again on 18 and 19 of February.

She said the cables that were damaged during the last fire must however, first be replaced.

“I will update residents on possible outages closer to the time,” she said.

“In the meantime, please begin preparing to overcome this obstacle. It is in the residents’ interest,” said Ms Chamberlain.

The substation at Albany Bakery is currently burning and the whole of Secunda is without electricity.
