Additional load shedding hits certain areas in GMM
Consumers in these towns, excluding eMbalenhle, will have to endure an additional hour of load shedding per day after Eskom’s load shedding finishes.

Besides Eskom’s load shedding, the Govan Mbeki Municipality will now also implement “partial” rotational load shedding in Bethal, eMzinoni, Kinross and Evander.
This is because the demand for electricity in these areas, as well as eMbalenhle, exceeds the notified maximum demand (NMD) of which the limit was agreed upon in a contract with Eskom.
In a notice to residents signed by the municipal manager, Mr Felani Mndebele, today 12 February, consumers in these towns, excluding eMbalenhle, will have to endure an additional hour of load shedding per day after Eskom’s load shedding finishes.
GMM has in the meantime applied to Eskom to upgrade the NMD in these areas.
Mr Mndebele asked that residents use electricity sparingly, because the municipality is unable to cope with the high demand.
