Local Joint Operation Committee meet to discuss operational plans regarding the outbreak of Covid-19

The aim of the meeting was to assess the operations that have been conducted by local stakeholders so far since the national lockdown was implemented last week.

HIGHVELD – Ms Thandi Ngxonono, executive mayor, thanked all stakeholders including businesses who have partnered with the Govan Mbeki Municipality to fight the Covid-19 outbreak.

Stakeholders who attended the meeting held at the council chamber on Monday, 30 March, Ms Ngxonono said the municipality can not fight the outbreak alone.

The aim of the meeting was to assess the operations that have been conducted by local stakeholders so far since the national lockdown was implemented last week.

Various stakeholders, including traditional and religious leaders, The South African Social Security Agency, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Health, South African Police Service and others will meet every Monday.

Ms Ngxonono encouraged locals who are not part of the essential services, to stay at home.
