The communications department of the Lekwa Municipality relayed details of the department’s visit on 7 April.
The Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane and the Deputy Minister, Mr David Mahlobo, as well as other stakeholders, decided on the following:
1. A team of technical experts will implement some changes at the Water Treatment Plant to supply residents with clean water.
2. Sasol will train Lekwa employees on water purification.
3. Rand Water will also help with technical aspects.
4. Altogether 25 Jojo-tanks will be provided to address water challenges in informal settlements, including Ext 8 and Morgenzon.
5. One water tanker will be provided bringing the total to eight tankers.
