Residents at Panorama flats without electricity (11am)
While Sasol and Govan Mbeki Municipality are trying to fix an electricity problem, residents at Panorama flats in Secunda have been without electricity for days now.
Ms Ciska Jordaan, DA councillor, said on Wednesday that it appears that the municipality was under the wrong impression that a transformer will be supplied by Sasol to resolve the electricity problem.
“This is not the case,” said Ms Jordaan.
According to her, the municipal manager said the municipality did however order a transformer but it could only be supplied this weekend.
“Due to this, I advise that residents, if at all possible, make alternative plans to store their food and make other arrangements they are able to make to alleviate the discomfort,” said Ms Jordaan.
“I have indicated to the municipal manager that I find this situation totally unacceptable and requested feedback with regard to an alternative solution for the time being, but I am still awaiting feedback.”
Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA councillor, said this morning the situation is still the same and it looks if the transformer will only arrive on Monday.
