UPDATE :Mayor and speaker of Lekwa re-instated
The special virtual council meeting this morning resulted in the mayor and speaker resuming their duties.
Mr Linda Dhlamini and Ms Harriet Khota are once again in the driving seats.

7am: New mayor and speaker to be elected today
The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Mandla Msibi, said a special virtual council meeting will be held on Friday, 5 June at 10am.
Mr Linda Dhlamini and Ms Harriet Khota were removed from their positions as mayor and speaker.
This followed after the DA’s motions of no confidence were carried through.
