Soccer organisers fined for contravening Level 3 lockdown regulations

Police will arrest those who contravene the lockdown regulations.

eMBALENHLE – A soccer team was issued a fine of R5 000 for contravening the Level 3 regulations on Thursday, 23 July.

This came after the team was found playing soccer and not complying to the regulations.

Cost Busi Mthethwa, police spokesman, said police will not tolerate any transgression of the law.

She said those who break the law will face prosecution.

She called on the parents and the community to join in raising awareness regarding Covid-19 and to curb the spread of the virus.

“The police cannot do this alone, we need the help of the parents and other community leaders. These soccer games and tournaments are putting many lives at risks. The attendees of these games do not even wear masks and are not observe social distancing.”
