A firefighter from Mkhondo’s Fire and Rescue Services, died in a accident on 24 July.

Mr Given Ngomane and his team were on their way to an accident scene on the Ermelo road near Iswepe.

According to Mr Robert Kubheka, spokesman for Mkhondo Local Municipality, Mr Ngomane was driving when the driver of a Mercedes allegedly attempted to overtake a truck.

He said: “The bakkie they were traveling in overturned several times.”

Mr Given Ngomane was critically injured and immediately taken to hospital with an ambulance, but succumbed to his injuries before he reached the hospital.
