Road signs now up in Malherbe Street, Bethal

"Road markings are also in need of serious painting. This will involve costs, but this is just a small beginning of changes we can make in the community by coming together to help with these projects," said Mr Menge.

BETHAL – A local businessman donated one yield and two stops signs for the safety of others.

“I did it for the safety of the people in this town. It will be good if everyone can follow and do something, no matter how big or small, to make a change in our community,” said Mr Jannie Menge of F. Menge Presentation & Signs.

He said many people use the crossings and drivers skip the signs, which were previously stolen, making it dangerous for other road users.

The signs were put up in Malherbe Street last week.

“Road markings are also in need of serious painting. This will involve costs, but this is just a small beginning of changes we can make in the community by coming together to help with these projects,” ended Mr Menge.

Cost of these signs range from R300 for a yield up to R500 for a stop sign.

AfriForum used their manpower and resources to put up the signs and is urging the community to join in on this initiative.

Mr Hennie Bekker, District Coordinator, Lowveld District AfriForum said AfriForum is willing to put up the signs should other businesses or members of the public want to donate a sign.
