Mr Never Mashele (28) has been arrested for the murder of Ms Nokuphila Nkumane.
Ms Nkumane was found dead by a relative in September 2018.
According to the police report, the deceased had visited her relative when the incident took place.
She was found laying on the floor in a pool of blood with her daughter on top of her crying.
According to the police, Ms Nkumane had several stab wounds and her throat was slit open.
Brig Sifiso Cele, former cluster commander, assigned Cpt Simon Mlotshwa to investigate the matter.
Upon investigation, police discovered the baby’s father was the suspect.
He was apprehended and confessed to committing the crime and pointed the police to the scene.
He is expected to appear at the Bethal Magistrate Court today, 11 August.
