eMBALENHLE – Motorists have described the state of the old Bracken Mine road as a “disgrace” because of the unbearable potholes.
They said it is difficult to safely avoid the potholes and it is placing the lives of motorists and pedestrians at risk.
This road, R547-road, is often used by joggers and learners from Osizweni Combined School.
The potholes are never fixed in that road unless residents themselves fill up the holes with soil.
These potholes are so huge, motorists are forced to drive through them, because it is impossible to avoid the holes.
Driving on this road could lead to your vehicle being damaged after heavy rain when the potholes are not visible.
Some motorists said not only should the government be criticised for the potholes, but the local bus company should also take responsibility.
“It is extremely difficult to drive on this road and I use it every day. Potholes have caused damage to my vehicles and tyres are expensive.
“We hope the municipality will do something about this soon.”
At the time of going to the press the Govan Mbeki Municipality had not commented.
