BETHAL – A reliable source have revealed to the Ridge Times that a meeting between municipal electricians and the Govan Mbeki Municipality’s management has reached a deadlock.
According to the source the electricians have refused to resume their duties until they are paid for the 60 hours of overtime that they have worked.
Residents in most parts of the are still without electricity. Some areas have been without power for more than 24 hours.
It is believed that the disgruntled employees did not switch the town’s electricity back on last night because they have not been paid for the extra hours.
In the meantime, WhatsApp messages on groups of at least two political parties, social groups and concerned citizens incidated that residents are making their way to the N17 substation.
There are talks of switching on the electricity themselves.
