HIGHVELD – Ms Busisiwe Sekhonde has been nominated as the new speaker for the Gert Sibande District Municipality.
She was elected during the recent virtual council meeting presided by the Ms Ephraim Thabethe who was the acting speaker.
Her appointment came after the death of Mr Joshua Nkosi who was the speaker for the Council.
Ms Sekhonde served as a Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Community and Social Services.
She appreciated the confidence and responsibility bestowed upon her to provide political and administrative leadership to Council.
“These are the big shoes left by the late Cllr Joshua Nkosi but I trust that we will continue working together and that we will remain as united as we have been.”
