GMM urges consumers to pay their debt

According to the municipality the only way they can render better basic services to the public is through the revenue collected.

HIGHVELD – In a media release sent by the communications department of GMM a plea is going out to consumers to pay their municipal bills.

GMM said they will be intensifying the disconnection of services to consumers who are in arrears with their municipal accounts and who are not paying their debt.

The municipality will be taking stringent measures against those who have been ignoring several requests and notices regarding settlements on overdue accounts.

According to the municipality the only way they can render better basic services to the public is through the revenue collected.

The municipality therefore urges consumers to continue paying their municipal services through these easy payment methods:

• Internet payment: Select Govan Mbeki Municipality on the list of pre-approved beneficiaries on your bank’s Internet banking website. Use your municipal account number as the payment or beneficiary reference.

• Direct bank deposit: You can make a direct bank deposit at any Standard Bank branch. Bank Name: Standard Bank Account Name: Govan Mbeki Municipality Account Number: 030192358 Branch code: 053444 Use your Govan Mbeki Municipality account numbers as your reference when making payment.

• ATM: You are able to pay your account at any bank’s ATMs, Govan Mbeki Municipality must be loaded as a beneficiary on your bank account.

• Easy Pay outlets: It is also convenient to pay your municipal account while shopping. Easy Pay outlets can be found at Pick n Pay, Shoprite/Checkers and Post Office branches. Your original municipal statement must be presented to the cashier.

• Rates Hall: You can pay your municipal bill at any Govan Mbeki Municipal offices.

Those who would like to receive their statement via e-mail can inform the municipality by sending their details to sonto.m@govanmbeki.gov.za or joel.m@govanmbeki.gov.za.
