Successful operation leads to arrest of illegal miners

Water pumps and materials used for illegal mining were confiscated and taken to the police station.

EVANDER – A successful clean-up operation lead to the arrest of three illegal miners (zama-zama) in a field next to the Mpumalanga Guest House at the Winkelhaak Mine on Thursday, 21 January.

The operation which was lead by the Evander Police Station Commander, Lieut-Col Jenny Albert, saw the police and their K9 unit team up with the companies Pan Africa, MavCorp, Jelani Security and SSG to ensure a successful operation.

The illegal miners appeared in court on Monday, 25 January.
