Reaction team from Secunda foils robbers’ attempt to hijack Albany truck

The gunmen pursued the truck, shot at the Albany employees and then forced them off the road.

Armed robbers made off with only a bag of coins when their heist of an Albany bread truck was foiled this afternoon, 10 February.

According to Mr Jacques Alberts from StratconRisk Security, they received an alert from Albany at about 2pm that their truck was under attack on the R580 near the water reservoirs and fourway stop between Kinross and Trichardt, and Secunda and Kriel/Delmas.

The gunmen pursued the truck, shot at the Albany employees and then forced them off the road.

Mr Alberts said the robbers could not pry the save open in time to steal the cash inside.

The suspects fled in a grey BMW with only the bag containing about R6 000 in coins.

ER24 treated both the driver and passenger for shock and transported them to hospital.
