Govan Mbeki Municipality begins its road rehab progamme by filling up potholes in Trichardt

The programme is aimed at eradicating potholes and rehabilitating and maintaining roads.

TRICHARDT – Govan Mbeki Municipality kept their word and began repairing potholes-ridden roads in Trichardt on Thursday, 11 February.

The executive mayor, Mr Nhlakanipho Zuma, and members of the mayoral committee, the speaker of the council, the chief whip and councilors, visited Rapportryer Street in Trichardt last week when the road rehabilitation programme officially kicked off.

Mr Donald Green, acting head of communication at Govan Mbeki Municipality, said the municipality, in partnership with the Gert Sibande District Municipality raised a significant amount of money to fund this programme.

“The programme is aimed at eradicating potholes and rehabilitating and maintaining road infrastructure in Rapportryer Street, Bekker Street, Grey Street and the intersection at Grey and PDP Kruger Street in Trichardt, portions of Solly Zwane Street, Bram Fischer Street and Rotterdam Street in Evander, the link at extension 15 Standerton and Chief Albert Luthuli in eMbalenhle, Khubheka Street and Lindile Nxiweni Street in eMbalenhle, Honeysuckle Street and Spitz Street in Kinross and Mvukuzane Street and Getrude Dludlu Street in Lebohang,” said Mr Green.

These roads will be temporarily closed during the repairs and Mr Green requested the community’s co-operation.
