Robbers make off with R40 000 in stolen property in Bethal

The man was assisted by a sales representative but never bought the bag.

BETHAL – Police responded to a business robbery at Sport Scene in Bethal on Sunday, 21 February.

According to information received by police an unknown man entered the store and wanted to buy a back-pack.

The man was assisted by a sales representative but never bought the bag.

He told the assistant that he was going to call his wife to help choose the best colour of the back-pack.

The man later returned and said he want the back-pack.

The man went to a storeroom where the complainant followed him and told him that only staff members were allowed to enter.

While at the storeroom door, two more suspects entered the store.

The man who was at the storeroom at the time took out a firearm and pointed the weapon towards the assistant.

The suspects instructed three other employees to put items, including different brands of tekkies, into the bags and to also used big boxes from the storeroom in which to pack items.

The suspects also took R300 cash from the till.

They fled the scene in a white Toyota Avanza with an unknown registration number.

The estimated value of the stolen property is R40 000.
