The team also managed to remove almost a kilometre of illegal fishing net from the water.

The body of an unknown man was recovered on Saturday, 6 March, at Tweeling Pan between Bethal and Hendrina.

The man drowned while fishing illegally on Friday, 5 March. It is against the law to fish with nets.

Delta 1 Rescue Diving, the Mpumalanga Inland Water Policing and Middelburg Police’s K9 Search and Rescue unit were involved in the search for the illegal fisherman.

Delta 1 Rescue Diving began the search on Friday, but due to the large area and no eye witness, they could not find the body.

The Middelburg K9 Search and Rescue was called in to help in the continued search on Saturday.

Sgt Harrington’s dog led the divers to the body. Netcare911 declared the man dead on the scene.

The team also managed to remove almost a kilometre of illegal fishing net from the water.
