Officials stop and search vehicles in Ermelo

MEC Shongwe who joined police and traffic officers who were conducting a stop and search operation in Ermelo on Saturday, committed to support law enforcement officers as they work towards turning the situation around.

Mpumanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe, voiced his unhappiness about increasing levels of crime and road carnage in the province.

“If we want to deal with crime and road crashes effectively we must put good systems in place, and there must be police visibility,” he said.
 
Several vehicles were stopped to verify their roadworthiness and searches were conducted during the operation.
