Two neighbours in Azalea do not know where to turn to with an ongoing sewage problem in their street.
Raw sewage is flowing into the yards in Kosmos Street.
According to the woman, the problem began during level 5 of the lockdown last year.
“It is getting worse,” she said.
The man said the Lekwa Municipality has been contacted on several occasions and their councillor is aware of the situation.
They contacted Ms Mapaseka Molaba, ward councillor, had a meeting with her and informed her of the problem.
“Ms Molaba contacted the relevant department and a promise was made to attend to it,” he also said.
Vehicles can not park or drive in the street, children are playing in the sewage and pedestrians are walking in their yard, were said. The duo added that the Taljaard Street-project has grind to a halt.
The Standerton Advertiser sent a WhatsApp-message to Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, communications manager of the municipality, on
Thursday, 8 April after the residents visited the offices.
