According to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman of Msukaligwa Municipality, the affected areas are Bothma Street, Sluiter Street, Naude Street and a portion of Oosthuizen Street.

A mini-substation went up in flames and caused a power outage in portions of Ermelo East on 17 May.

According to residents who live in the area, they were walking up the road to see what was going on and as Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue drove away after extinguishing the initial fire, wires re-sparked and the mini-substation was again on fire.

They called Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue. The fire died out minutes before the emergency services arrived on the scene for the second time.

According to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman of Msukaligwa Municipality, the affected areas are Bothma Street, Sluiter Street, Naude Street and a portion of Oosthuizen Street.

Mr Zwane said the electricity will only be restored on 18 May.

The Highvelder sent additional media enquiries to Mr Zwane and awaits response.
