Criminals use GSDM’s name to solicit bribes

According to Ms Bongi ka Dube, spokesman of GSDM, the district distances itself from such activity and requests the public to avoid falling prey to the attempts being made.

Criminals have created and used names of officials from the Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) to solicit bribes from service providers for certain projects advertised by the district.

GSDM sent out a scam alert on 18 May and stated they have learnt with disappointment of fraudulent activities which was brought to the district municipality’s attention.

According to Ms Bongi ka Dube, spokesman of GSDM, the district distances itself from such activity and requests the public to avoid falling prey to the attempts being made.

“All procurement activities of the institution are conducted in line with all Supply Chain Management Regulations,” Ms Ka Dube said.
