Heaps of sand, stones and burning tyres on Amersfoort Road

A truck is blocking the road near Acacia and police are waiting for towing services to clear the scene. 

Two protests took place on the road from Ermelo to Amersfoort and from Ermelo to Piet Retief on 9 June.

Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police, said both protests are about the current electricity woes.

According to Capt Prinsloo, it will take up to an hour before the truck is removed.

She said the Amersfoort Road is however, open.

When the Highvelder was on the scene at the Amersfoort picket, there were no protesters, but heaps of sand, stones, rocks and burning tyres in the road.

Motorists are still urged to drive with caution if traveling on these roads.
