Police arrested two men and a woman for a business robbery that happened on Thursday, July 1.
The arrest came after the police received a complaint of a business robbery that occurred at a shop in the CBD.
It is alleged that four suspects, one of whom was wearing a police uniform without a cap and other police uniform accessories, entered the shop.
The suspects pointed a firearm at the complainant, took the employees to the storeroom and locked them inside.
The suspects demanded money that was inside the cash register.
They then left the shop with a total amount of R6 000.
While the suspects were trying to get away, community members managed to apprehend the man wearing the police uniform. He was handed over to the police.
The arrested suspect then informed the police about the other suspects who were later arrested.
All suspects will appear at Bethal Magistrate’s Court and are facing charges of business robbery.
The suspect who was found in a police uniform, will face additional charges of impersonating a police official.
Capt Anne Steyn, acting station commander, thanked the community for apprehending the suspect and handing him over to the police. She further encouraged the community to continue working together with the police in the fight against crime.
