Ermelo police make major drug bust

ERMELO – The police have confiscated more than 580 heroin sachets at a suspicious-looking house in town.

According to Brig Leonard Hlathi, the spokesman for the Mpumalanga police, the police in Ermelo were informed about alleged drug activities at this house.

“It was said that the suspects used a silver VW Polo Vivo to transport the drugs,” Brig Hlathi said.

The K9 units from Ermelo and Standerton police stations acted swiftly on the information and found the house in question.

Upon their arrival, the police discovered three suspects packaging an unknown substance inside the house.

It turned out to be heroin.

Along with the heroin, an undisclosed amount of cash was found which, according to the police, indicates that the suspects are allegedly involved with drug dealing.

The three suspects, two men and a woman, aged between 28 and 38, were arrested.

Brig Hlathi added that the trio appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on July 26.
